Alteams joined the Global Compact in April of this year. We asked Anne-Mari Järvinen, Alteams Executive Vice President for Sourcing and Sustainability, why joining the Global Compact initiative is important for us.
“Joining the Global Compact initiative was a natural step for us, as we have long been working to develop our business from a sustainability perspective. This initiative provides a clear framework that allows us to enhance our sustainability efforts, particularly in the areas of human rights, the environment, labour standards, and anti-corruption. It is important to us that we operate according to globally recognized principles and that we can accurately measure and report our advancement in these areas.
The Global Compact offers us tools and networks that help us strengthen our actions and improve their transparency. The annual progress report (Communication on Progress, COP) will help us track the achievement of our goals and communicate our progress to stakeholders. Joining the Global Compact is confirmation of our commitment to act responsibly in all areas connected to our business. Sustainability is known as success factor for future business, and the Global Compact provides the correct tools and networks for this,” states Anne-Mari Järvinen.
On September 25, we celebrated the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Flag Day by raising the SDG flag at Alteams headquarters in Laihia.
